In Bloom #35 - Ginkgo

I don't know why I haven't planted a ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba) of my own because I love to watch the leaves change from green to golden yellow in the fall.  There are several I see when out and about.  It's almost like the leaves drop all at once.  They are there one day and then the next, there is a carpet of yellow surrounding the bare tree.

Happy Sunday,

  1. We have several ginkgo trees in our neighbourhood and I love the yellow carpets they create in the fall too.

  3. We had a ginko tree beside the driveway of the first house we ever owned. It's in Altoona (a suburb of Des Moines), Iowa, and we bought the house in 1977. You're right that the leaves fell all at once, after turning yellow-gold. It was pretty amazing. I wonder if the tree is still there... Thinking of you daily.

  4. I can see that colour in a quilt, and the leaves are always beautiful, even when they fall.

  5. I've always loved the shape and color of these leaves. You have such interesting tree and plant species where you live. I enjoy seeing them here on your blog.
